Emma Hancock - Taylor: examples of sound
I chose this clip from 'Psycho' as I think it's a good example of sound.
The music builds up tension throughout and finally shocks the audience by using music which mimicks the action of the stabbing in a high screeching sound. It then plays the sound of the man falling down the stairs over the top which I think is quite effective.
I also thought it was quite well suited to the type of genre we want to use in our film as we want to do a horror/thriller style film.

Another example of a Hitchcock film which uses the same sound mix as 'Psycho' is 'Rear Window', another example of a thriller. I like this scene as the music creates quite a relaxing and mellow atmosphere when the actual scene taking place is unsettling and involves the police searching someone's house.
